Bak2School, BikShare

Kent MS back to school night was great to attend.  We're offering a free after-school bike class to 5th and 6th graders in a few weeks.

our booth was rockin'

I'm always appreciative of my bike and path along the east Sir Frances Drake Blvd. where commuters sit waiting to cross the Richmond Bridge.

through traffic is not an amenity

It's here!  Well, some of it.  Bay Area Bike Share launched a modest 600 bikes, but that doesn't mean it can't grow like DC or Boston.

SF officials ride next to trucks after recent deaths.

More evidence that unemployment doesn't explain the decline in driving.

Another great meeting of our Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

On a related note, join us Monday at a meeting that will decide the fate of bicycle and pedestrian access around Hwy 101!  Here's the info.

Oat Hill, Old Vee

I'm gonna log some miles, though I shortened this ride to keep the pace high.

Oat Hill Road feels so remote, I love the serpentine rock.

Coast View Trail

My loop today reminded me that I haven't been spending hours in the saddle.

I went up Deer Park to check out the climb for the Dirt Fondo, toughest climb?

A neighbor donated these bikes!

Biking 1984

My mom found these photo's of my sister and me pushing pedals in 1984!

Who would have known then that I would work to ensure today's kids have the same rights to bike and walk their streets.

Safe Routes Conference Final Day

My last two session of the conference were about a Chicago bike education program that recently toured Copenhagen and the Kidical Mass movement.

After that we took to the capital for some good ol' lobbying for healthy kids!

#4thSRTSconf

Another fun day at the Safe Routes to School National Conference.  I was inspired to hear from programs that insist on bringing "A" quality teachers into the schools.

Today I rode 35 miles on the American River.

4th Safe Routes to Schools National Conference

Another great day at the Safe Routes conference.  I love the mix of advocates ranging from concerned parents to members of congress.  Walking and biking is healthy!

My presentation was about the learning experience, emphasizing youth.*

Great work from Elizabeth Stretch's students in Minneapolis.

So far it has been great hearing about the movement nation wide!
