Happy Friday!  Here's a Dutch street, the safest streets in the world.

You can't just slap on a helmet and call these streets acceptable.

A "traffic park" near Stockholm

Do you care about safety, children, elderly, and poor?
Do you want to help reduce a top cause of death and injury?
If not, would you like to save money on health care to the injured?

Many places already have streets that successfully protect human life.
If you're interested, please explore the links on this blog.  Thanks!

Safe Routes

I had a super fun day visiting three elementary schools over 27 miles.

My commute took me through a state park, to the hills and by the bay!

Baby Cargo

I'm super excited to have a baby on the way.  I just ordered a cargo bike!

My friends at The Bicycle Works (non-profit bike shop) hooked me up with a Bakfiets (box-bike in Dutch).  This design places kids in a sturdy box low to the ground.

The Danish "Bullitt" is light, sturdy, and low.

Mine will be green, naturally.

Headlands

It felt good to get out on the dirt bicycle after nearly a week off.

I wanted to set my fastest time climbing Marincello and I did despite lack of fitness.
It just goes to show what will-power can do!

2 Steps Forward...

Two steps forward and one step back is still a step forward.

The new green bike paint is great, but why do gutters qualify as bike lanes?

green gutter is better than a regular gutter

I've been having a great time at Manor Elementary.

Safer Streets Now!

1 of 6 traffic deaths is a pedestrian or bicyclist and the number is rising here and abroad.  Traffic crashes AKA "accidents" have become a top health problem worldwide. You can support safer streets for kids and adults!

Contact Congress today to ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 3494 / S. 1708, which requires the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) and state DOTs to work towards reducing bicyclist and pedestrian deaths.  Take Action Here.
